Canon XH A1 suddenly can not capture video?

Question: I have a Canon XH A1 HD DVD video camera and did not have a problem capturing video with Sony Vegas Movie Studio. Then suddenly I am not able to capture video anylonger. My computer does not recognize my camera.
Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere that I may have mistakenly changed or something on my computer?
Answers: If youre using RCA/Phono plug there is a selector switch for V1/2 it could be that. I'm assuming youre using a 4 pin Firewire connection, try changing the Cable first.

I'm not familiar with Vegas but have you changed any parameters on the software? Most of the programs I tried setup automatically so I didnt have to set anything with the Firewire.

I'm having loads of problems also. I bought a Hard Disk DVD recorder and it cant handle the XH A1. I tried several Editing programs and have problems with them all at HiDef, everything works ok with lower res.

My Laptop is 2gig dual core, 2 gig ram, 256m Video card, 7200rpm Hard disk but it doesnt seem to be enough. I'd love to hear from someone what does work.

It's not the Camera, the quality is fantastic but the file sizes are enormous. Good luck, let us know if you got it sorted. Joe
