Where can i get an anolog camcorder to transfer old 8mm/Hi 8 video footage to Pc or dvd?
Question: I have many old 8mm/Hi8 camcorder tapes with footage from 2001-2004 which i need to transfer to DVD/PC. I had started the process in 2004 when my camcorder broke through no fault of my own. I couldn't afford to get it repaired (again!), but now, they are not available in any more in any shops that i know of.
So my question is basically, whether anyone knows where i can get hold of a UK format Hi8 camcorder tape player. It also has to have long play mode as most of the later stuff was recorded in long play! I've tried a certain *BAY , so please don't suggest that. Alternatively does anyone know of any companies that offer a camcorder tape to DVD/PC transfer service that would be availalble in the UK?
Ironically, I wanted a digital camera in the 1st place, but the prices in 2001-2003, were just too unaffordable at the time. Certainly for me anyway. The retail gap between making digital camcorders affordable and analog camcorders no longer available has been disgracefully short IMO.
Answers: It has become very difficult to source the old film and early tape format equipment but there are a number of specialist companies offering the service. A quick google found http://www.videoimageprod.co.uk/ for you as a start.
Try googling for transfer to DVD without quotation marks and only UK sites. Nearly 2 million hits to browse.
Happy memories.
TRY taking them to somewhere like Jessups or your local computer repair man for assistance.
You could use mine. I'd be glad to help.
But these aren't as outdated as you may think: last time I checked, compatable cameras were still available at Argos.
If your PC has a TV tuner card, give the o/p of your camcorder to this tuner card and then get the video transfered onto your PC
