Why is my DV Camera not connecting to my PC?

Question: I recently got a Panasonic NV-GS230. Learned to use it. I took some videos. I then followed all the instructions on installing it on my PC. I installed the two programes on the CD that came with it. And the driver also. (I'm running XP home sp2)

All done in the manual, I plugged in the video camera to the USB port, turned it on and set the mode to PC. I opened one of the programs that installed (Sweet move life) and chose 'Edit on Tape'. And then got an error message to say the camera was not detected. Help.
Answers: For video connection you need USB 2 or Firewire connection.

You could also try the Install New Hardware wizard from Control Panel.
Hi there the usb port only supports still pictures from the camcorder you need to use a firewire port and cable to capture dv
Video needs a firewire connection. Your computer probably doesn't have a firewire port so you would need to buy one and install it, then you would need a firewire cord (referred to in your manual as an ieee 1394) to connect your camera to your PC.
