What is the best camcorder?
Question: I'm planning on buying a camcorder but i'm not sure which to get. Any reccomendations? And I live in America, Florida to be exact, so only American reccomendations please. I cant go over to england or anything for this. OR actually i'm moving to japan in a few weeks so I'll take japanese camcorder reccomendations. Thanks all.
Answers: There are a new range out which are so cheap its unreal, even a HD one is only around 180 dollars! They work just as well as any others but they save money in the manufacturing process by using SD cards as storage media, a 4GB card can hold 2 hours of 720p HD footage. You can buy them on ebay if you search for hd camcorder , trust me i have one and your friends who spend 1000+ dollars on Sony models will kick themselves when you tell them how much you paid. They take excellent still photos too using 12 million pixels.
Don't be fooled by the price or look, they really are ace! I have a JVC HDD camcorder that cost me over 1000 dollars and its not as good.
Sonys High Definition 1080i HDR-FX1; First 3 CCD HDV Camcorder. This is the best thats available. You can't get better than HD quality. Sony is widely available and very a good make...
If your going more for professional grade then definitely a Canon XL2, its the best on the market below 4k. If your just looking for a regular consumer camcorder then i would look into the Sony DCR-DVD505 DVD Camcorder, or a little cheaper the Canon ZR600 Digital Camcorder. I would not worry with HD unless you going to shoot for Broadcast.
Peace,
You don't give any information at all about what your are going to do with it, your experience aspirations or abilty, so you are as well asking how long is a piece of string? and I'm as well saying that long .
No offence intended.
Give us a sensible question and I will attempt a sensible answer.
In the meantime. whatever you buy, buy it in hong kong. Much cheapness
Japan has 100 volt current, make sure your unit works in the range of 100-240volts. Many units only cover a range of 110 to 240 and THAT may not work well in Japan.
tests on all hd camcorders on the gadget show were suprisingly bad ,they recommended digital tape canon-jvc-panasonic you dont say how much or amatuer or advanced
