Give me ideas of what to do with my HD camcorder?

Answers: First, Congrats on buying a Cutting-edge technology Handycam.

You have to remember you are using a technology which is not common place. Which is something like you are using a Mobile Phone during the Graham Bell Era, though not that dramatic.

Meaning there is no regular PC that powerfull to do the number crunching and bring your Video into your PC. Even if you manage to do that, there is MEDIA (DVD) that can record and most important to playback into your TV (even if u have an HDTV). These are going to be Pretty costly for sometime, say couple of years.

The HDTV offers some real-like quality in its image capture. So you can use it for Under water movie capture and shock your friends and family. Sony has an underwater container for most of its Handycams.

Make sure that all the capture you do is in Day-light and outdoors, unless you have a well illuminated house. Check out the sharpness settings and tone it down, when you are shooting indoors.

Vast green hills, green trees and colourfull flowers, mesmerising gardens, never ending sunflower fields... these are all some beautifull spots for your HDTV and putting your GF/Wife and Kids among them will make a piece of movie that you will enjoy to playback and watch later...

Who knows, you might even get nominated for an Oscar for outstanding Cinematography, Short Picture category etc etc...

All the Best

Seriously,
Consider doing television shows for local access television.
It will let you show off your talents and provide an audience for your new toy! Record parades, local sports, make music videos, interview elderly people about what it was like to grow up in your town. Most ipmportantly have fun!
