Hdd camcorder or MiniDV? is hdd worth the extra money?

Answers: If you feel comfortable using the computer to edit your footage then HDD is the way to go. Mini DVs and HDD both require the camcorder to watch or transfer what has been recorded. If you go with either, and you plan on viewing what you've recorded, you will need to connect it to a computer or either a VCR or DVD recorder in order to transfer what you've recorded to usable media (DVDs or tapes).

In the long run, a HDD is built to download the files to a computer. The Mini DV can do this, but most don't even come with the cable to connect it to a computer (check for USB), or software to edit it once you get it on the computer.

As you can probably tell, I see no value in the Mini DV. Even the lesser cost is only a diversion, since you usually have to purchase the tapes, the cords, and the software just to do the same thing that the HDD already does.
I personally use DV for all of my work (or mini-DV). HDD are a good choice if you plan to put it straight onto your computer. Mini-DV is a good choice if you plan to save your footage (Archive it for future use), as well as putting it on your computer. In the long, long run HDD will save money if you are constantly purchasing new tapes for the Mini-DV camera, but personally I would go for the Mini-DV.
