Does anyone know how I can?
Question: transfer camcorder VHS'S to DVD'S for pretty cheap. I am trying to do this on about 30-6 hour vhs's so getting it done professionaly is out of the questions. thanks in advance to those who answer.
Answers: Look on the back of the VHS player for RCA jacks labeled output, then locate input jacks on the DVD recorder with the same type. They are easily identified by the three end cables color coded commonly with red, yellow and white. Play tape and record on DVD player.
Some only have red and yellow. Another combination is a Super video connection plus a yellow and white for sound. If you need more help email me.
One other thing to see what you are recording look for the output on the DVD recorder and plug it into the input on your TV.
What you need to buy is a Pinnacle AV/DV kit.
The kit contains everything you need to plug your 8mm Sony camcorder into your computer, load the video, edit, compile and write to output to a VCD, DVD, MiniDV, etc. The AV/DV board supports both analogue and digital input/output - meaning you can plug your VHS deck, VHS cam, 8mm cam, Hi8 cam, etc to it and go mental digitizing :) You also get a copy of Pinnacle Studio. Studio will allow you to create professional looking output with titles, transitions, music tracks and cool video effects.
These kits are inexpensive for the capability you get.
Be warned though - editing video on your computer takes up tons of disk space, processing cycles and memory. 10 minutes of DV can consume 10Gb of disk! I ended up buying a new PC - 3.3 Ghz, 2Gb RAM, 2 x 250Gb drives, 1 x DVD Burner, 1 x DVD reader, firewire, blah, blah, blah.
