What do I need to view video from my camcorder on my pc?

Question: I have installed a firewire card, and I have it connected with a firewire cable. but my pc, win2000, still does not regconize the sony dcr-trv20 camcorder. what do I need to do?
Answers: Unfortunately you will need to upgrade your OS to either Windows XP or Windows Vista. Unfortunately this model does not have support under Windows 2000. Your best bet is either get the upgrade to XP Home or if you want to spend a little more money buy a new PC with Windows Vista and install the Firewire card into it. Most low new end PCs don't have them anyways and if they do they are in the front and those ports just stink. Info can be viewed at http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-lis...
You can not tell if the PC recognises the camcorder without a “Video Editing Software”. The windows doesn’t deal directly with the Camcorder. It deals with it more like a scanner that will not work without the scanning software.

A bundle version of some Video Editing Software should be found on the “Firewire Card” installation disk, install this software.

The instruction of importing the Video from the Camcorder to the PC depends on which software is bundled with your card. However, once the software is installed and running it should be a straight forward job. … Good luck.
