Please Help!! I want to make DVDs using a minidv digital camcorder.?

Question: I was able to save the footage to my computer using Microsoft My Video but I cannot save that to a DVD-R/W or DVD-R. I am only allowed to save it to a CD-RW. Please tell me what I am doing wrong and if there is some other type of software I need. Thanks
Answers: Is it a one time thing or you'll have to do it over and over. I don't prefer the video function that came with Windows at all. If its a one time thing, try download a trail version of Adobe Premiere Pro and start from there, you can capture, edit and export and even burn your DVD from it.
Do you have a DVD burner to start with? If yes, then did you select mpg 1 or mpg 2 when you loaded it to your PC? If you did mpg1 then MS My Video (which I've never used) may default to CD because this if for encoding Super Video and not DVD. Other than that try putting in a blank DVD-R and see if it changes the format you can save to.
