What's the best video and/or photo camera to use with a mac?

Question: Example: Video recorded in a compatible mac format (Quicktime) and in HD for the HD Apple Cinema Display
Answers: I don't recall a camera the records video in quicktime. Most cameras will record to tape, hard drive or dvd. The camera plays back can send the video to the computer. The question you are asking is kind of backwards as it sounds like you have a nice rig and you want to know what camera will provide the best results for the computer.

If you want HD there are several different codecs on the mac that can support what you need if you are using Final Cut Pro. If you use iMovie I'd have to double check your options. Secondly, the ability to shoot HD can be very expensive depending on your final output. Where is the video going to go? Broadcast? Internet? DVD? CD? All of these things can make a difference in the camera you need. For example, it isn't a wise choice to spend $100K on a camera if the video is going to be show exclusively on an iPod. Nor would you spend $300 on a camera for feature film.
