How can I prove that someone took a picture w/digital camera & then enhansed it before taking it to be develop
Question: I'm serious. Thank you.
Answers: If you have a very high resolution copy of the photo; you can look very carefully for the parts that you believe were stitched in place. If the modification was done by a non-professional, you can usually find where the enhancement was added. Looking for these errors is almost as tedious and time consuming as the enhancement took.
Basicially, zoom in so close that you can see individual pixels. Usually the tell tale sign is blotches of color that were not in the original scene. That color might be hard to see; as it might be a shade brightness that blends in well.
But I do have to agree with others. If this is a legal matter, you would need an expert witness.
Show them the original. Without the original, you will need an expert to analize it, and that isn't cheap.
You can send it to me, I can easily tell if it has been photoshoped, manipulated in any form. I have been doing photo manipulation for about 10yrs now so I know what to look for.
If you have the digital camera, put the file in a memory card and view it using the camera. If the file was original, it will have a lot more info that you can pull up. If the person is not a pro, when he manipulated the file and saved it, it is likely the extra info is not retained. But then the photo may have been saved without manipulation. Usually you have to blow up the photo to pixel level and check for consistency, direction of shadows, color balance, etc. It is not simple.
