My house is a cell phone dead zone. Besides switching carriers, what can I do?

Answers: There are some new products coming on the market that are basically repeaters of the cellular signal. But the only way they work is if there is some coverage to start with. Some people have reported good products and performance.

This really depends on your technology and carrier. GSM carriers (Cingular, T-Mobile) tend to work a bit better than CDMA carriers (Verizon, Sprint) as they are better suited to repeated signals. CDMA doesn't like noise, which is a by product of repeaters.

Talk with your neighbors and see who they have to see if they even might be better. Typically all carriers now are about the same on coverage as they share towers in most markets. Some even have tools online that can show you expected coverage. T-Mobile has a neat tool called PCC (personal coverage checker) on their web site.
Depending on who you have you can call and ask them to check it out. I know if you do that with T-mobile they will fix it (most of the time) within six months...I know its a while but thats what they do. There are some antena boosters that you can buy but they can be fairly expensive. Try using a Nokia or newer Motorola...they both have been known to pull signals out of the air in places where you would usualy get no signal
