Wii or Ds Lite please?

Question: Hello! I am a 24 year old woman and I am considering getting a either a WII or a DS LITE? Which is better? If I get a WII will my 5 year old be able to play with it? Thanks!
Answers: I think you and your 5 year old could enjoy either system. My husband and I have a DS Lite (soon to own 2) and also a Wii.

I was never a huge video game player. The last console I owned was a Sega Genesis that was used. When the Wii was released, I couldn't wait to get one. And believe me, there are no regrets.

Wii game play is fantastic and like no other. I love the control system and am playing games I never thought I'd play. We don't have kids yet, but I know there are many games for kids and I'm sure you 5 year old would love it.

The DS Lite is also fantastic (don't bother with the original DS - the Lite version is far superior). The portability is great and the controls, also fantastic. The touch screen introduces components of games that other systems can't. I look forward to getting a DS Lite of my own so that my husband and I can play head to head on some of the games. (We used to own 2 original DS systems and have traded/sold them to get the Lite version).

My husband just came upstairs and has this to say:
If it was just you, DS Lite because of the portability.
Including your 5 year old, go with Wii.
The touch screen on the Lite is pretty durable, but can be damaged and he's not sure how gentle a 5 year old might be.

If you do go with the Lite, be sure to get screen protectors from the start.

Good luck, and whichever you choose, have fun!!!
well a wii is an at home system, that cant travel. but a DS lite can travel, and has a touch screen, with two game places, so you can still play your old gameboy games it in too.
I have a Wii, and personally, I don't think it would be ideal for a five year old. There was the whole wristband thing, and depending on how tall your TV is, the sensor bar might not pick up a small child. I would go with the DS.
i have a wii and love it. My six and 9 year old sisters can both play and have a great time. The wii is more exspensive but i think it is better
I have both and the controls and gameplay is better on the Wii. Their is nothing wrong with the DS, Wii is just more fun. Games like, Trauma Center, Cooking Mama, etc are on both systems, but controller configuration is better on the Wii. I have a seven year old who adores the Wii. Wii Sports & Wii Play have simple games, that anyone can play. With the Wii's Virtual console releasing classic games every week, it's great for old school gamers too.
get the wii the ds sucks in every way and the wiis gameplay is worth every penny
you should get a ds lite. i'm a kid and i play mine all the time.the best part is...it's portable, and you can talk to a friend who has one too.
a wii is a ds lite except it is for the tv but the wii is able to let you online and it come with wii sports (a really good game) so i would reccomend the wii
