Is it illegal to use images of say...a Nintendo Wii on your website?
Question: So I recieved a complaint on my site because it has pictures of the Nintendo wii, claiming it was illegal. Is that true?
Anyone got any good legal advice I could chuck back at them?
Answers: Perhaps if you gave a copyright credit or even ask permission to use the photo
it is. unless you cite it. on your website, just put a tiny (i mean tiny) link beneath the image to the site you got the image from.
The person who took the photo has the rights to it.
If you took the photo there is no illegality.
if the photos are photos you have taken with your own camera etc....and the website is like a magazine (informational) reviews etc...then you have no problem unless you are using copywritten photos and your site is not original info like a magazine would publish then you have a problem....as long as it is your own stuff and you are not harming nintendo business in any way then you should be fine just make sure you make it clear that you are not affiliated with nintendo.
The nintendo company does appreciate displaying pictures of their products on your website and would never seek litigation if the pictures on your site are promoting their products. Don't worry about it.
I think it's legal.
there lying to u.
