What is trade marketing? How does it differ from advertising & promotions?

Answers: Here is the best way I know to explain these differences. First Trade Marketing is when you are targeting your product to a related group of professionals. For instance, suppose I am a tool manufacturer and one of the products we make is Pipe wrenches. If my point of sales is directed towards Plumbers through trade publications, trade shows, business to business dealings/advertising--- all of these endeavors would be considered trade marketing. Now if I worked out a deal with my local hardware store to put my pipe wrenches in their store flyer, that would be advertising. If I offered a rebate for buying the wrench in the month of June, or offered a discount on another related product with the purchase of my wrench, that would be a promotion.
Trade marketing is typically a term used to describe business to business promotions.

Advertising and marketing is usually associated with the consumer market.
i think it deals with the trading of stocks and bonds
People in a certain industry read trade journals and magazines specifically designed for their own industry. In these publications there is advertising that includes those product which would be useful to people in that industry. Trademarketing is like targeting the demographic that your selling to which is your peers.
Trade marketing is concerned with introducing something to the trade . Advertising and promotion are concerned with expanding the sale of something which is already on the market. Of course these terms are often used loosely or confused.
