Can you go blind looking through the glass door of a microwave oven while it is operating?
Answers: If the oven leaks microwaves, you could get cataracts. You need to take it to an appliance service center and ask them to do a leak test. If the seals on the door and the safety interlocks are good, you should not have to worry about microwaves leaking out. (Radio Shack used to sell leak testers, but I don't think they do any more.)
If you get blinded due to using a large wattage light bulb in the oven, change it for the size the manufacturer recommends.

microwave ovens emit very shot lived rays... I would be careful being right against the oven while its nuking the food but if you leave half a foot or so, it shouldn't affect you at all.
