Will an alarm clock stop ringing after a while?
Question: My roommate's alarm is going off right now and it's dead noisy, but I think she woke up way earlier before the alarm went off and is already out for work. I have no way of going into her room. Does alarm usually stop ringing after a while even though nobody turns it off? Or is it gonna keep on ringing til she comes home and turn it off? Now it's ringing for over 5 minutes.
Answers: that sucks. i know that mine shuts off after a while, because sometimes it goes off while i'm in the shower, but it's off by the time i get out. i'm sure it depends on the alarm clock.
Some alarm clocks shut off automatically after an hour- but some don't shut off until you turn them off- sorry!

Depends on the alarm. Mine rings for 20 minutes and then turns off. But its a german alarm and I don't know about all of them. I would call her and tell her she needs to come turn it off!
Usually they stop. Some can go for an hour tho, some for only a few minutes, is it battery operated?

most of them do, some older models don't. If it doesn;t go to your nearest gunshop and get some grenades to blow away his room (and his alarm clock):D. But definately do have a chat about it when he gets back from work

I did that once before way back in college. I got back half a day later and it was still going! :) Good thing it was plugged in and wasn't running on batteries! :p
one hour is the normal for all alarms unless you go in and just turn it off urself

yes, but to do this quickly, just cut the power switch to that room or the whole place. go to the fuse box to do this, call your dad if you need help with what a fuse box is, or ask another question here about that.

Very few of them do. My neighbor used to leave theirs on ALL weekend long. (would be out of town and left it set for 6:00 am)
Since you are in the same house you could shut off the power to her room. Hopefully it doesn't have a battery back up.
My sister does the same thing and has a lock on her door. And hers doesn't turn off after awhile. It just keeps on going. What I do is take my driver's license or credit card and I slide it between the door jam and the lock and get into her room to turn it off.
yea i think it will cuz my mom told me one day when i had stayed over at one of my friends houses that she was in bed and she heared mine going off and she didn't fell like getting up so she just let it keep going off and she said that it stoped going off after like 10 mins so yea i think it will
It's been my experience that the clock will stop ringing. Although it may depend on the type of alarm clock it is. If it's a wind up one it will wind down. Other will usually stop ringing a while after the set time.

i f you know how turn off the power in the house at the FUSE BOX by turning off the main circuit and then turn it back on 3 - 5 seconds later. THis may cause the clock to atleast shut up; however u risk resetting all the AC electronic time contraptions in the whole building/ house, but if it is too loud that is one way u can stop it.
