How much does it cost to by a mome theater system ?
Answers: If you are talking about a full package, there are a few options.
For $200-$300 you best bet is a Yamaha or Kenwood HTB. They will give you a complete system, receiver and speakers, with good quality for the money.
The next step up would be $400-$600 with a Denon or Onkyo. These packages are just going to give you a better and more powerful receiver and slightly better speakers.
After $600, you should really start looking at buying everything separate. A Onkyo or Yamaha receiver can be had for about $250-$300, or better yet a Denon, marantz or H/K can be had for $400-$600.
Then you will need some speakers. The best value right now for quality speakers would have to be Athena. They are sold at Best Buy, made by a company called Energy. Great bang for your buck. Next I would look at the Energy Take 5.2 system, you get everything you need in a box as far as speakers go and for a good price. You may also want to check out Paradigm and PSB as they have speakers that would fit the bill and be around the price to piece together as the Energy System. Axiom speakers are online only, but are regarded as good and affordable speakers. There are many more speakers out there, but for the money, these speakers are the best for your money probably.
What ever you do, do not get Bose. Bose is highly over priced for what you get. Speakers half the cost of Bose will run circles around Bose speakers. Bose is all about marketing and not quality. They use paper in their cones, which is a very cheap way to make speakers, and does not give you good quality speakers. Don't be fooled by speaker price, price does not always equal good or even quality!
Between $200 and $600.
