What are bipolar speakers and how do they work?
Answers: Bipolar speakers have drivers pointing in different directions and are wired in-phase . They provide a more diffuse soundfield than monopoles (regular speakers) and are commonly used as surround speakers.
Update: Tuesday, 2/28/06. Hi JeffyB, Bipoles and Dipoles are similar except for the way Dipoles are wired: out-of-phase. This creates a null area near the listening spot and a much more diffuse soundfield than Bipoles.
Don't you mean dipole speakers?? Used in home theater set ups to project sound in different directions? Especially useful in long narrow rooms.
