What is this blue-ray crap everybodys talking about?

Answers: Blue ray is one of two standards for the next generation of DVD. This generation will store 6 or 7 times more information than the current generation. Among other things, it will enable high definition movies to fit on a single disk. The name Blue ray comes from the fact that the laser used in the new generation of DVD's is a shorter wavelength than the current lasers used in traditional DVD players. By using a shorter wavelength (or more blue laser instead of a red one), the grooves in the DVD can be thinner and packed more tightly on the disk. This is one of the major reasons why the new DVD's will have much higher capacity than the existing ones.
nevermind blue ray whats this james blunt all about....
Its a new High density DVD being released by Sony real soon. we are probbaly gonna have a DVD format war, like we did in the early 80's on video cassete that VHS eventualy won.
Its one of the two new DVD formats. Basically there is HD-DVD and Blue-Ray, they are both used to play the new High Definition(HD) format. There is Pro's and Con's to both types of disc so nobody's sure which disc will become the new standard format to replace dvd yet
I really doubt there will be a format war since a DVD player for a home entertainment player could have a disk drive for both.

Also PS3 will run one version of the new DVDs and X-Box will run another vesion, so neither will completely die. There is also a third version, as cheap as a standard DVD player, because it's basically the save. The DVD info in layered so it can hold just as much info as the ones that use blue ray.
