What's the best plasma tv?
Answers: I spent 6 days at CEDIA last year trying ot answer this quesiton myself. Here's what I found. The very best I saw (nothing was really close) is Pioneer Elite. They are pricey but well worth it if you really want the best picture & features. Panasonics are also very good, and are an excellent value for the $$. I thought the Sony's sucked, but that is one man's opinion. Go to a Magnolia home theater center inside a Best Buy, and you can see for yourself. Also, be aware that you MUST have the proper room set-up to get the most from any of these TV's. If you have distracting light coming in from windows or skylights, even a great TV will look like crap (the color will wash out). You must have a way of getting a very dark room to watch the TV. Of course, if you don't have the perfect room, getting a TV with really rich color is even more important -- back to the Pioneer....
picture, sound and duration - sony
I think for me the best brand for plasma tv is LG, ok it's korean, but the korean technology is very good quality and sometimes better than the japanese
Panasonic.
Great blacks.
Great contrast in the dark scenes.
Great color saturation.
60,000 hour half life (comparable to a CRT television)
My wife and I are absolutely stunned by the high def images of the Olympics -- especially the mountain scenes. This is some the best HD we've ever, ever scene.
