How to connect my laptop to polk audio speaker which does not have headphone kind of jack..?

Answers: You should try a stereo mini-plug 'Y' with RCA male ends, red and black usually. From these you can get extension RCA cables. Unless the speakers are self powered, you will need a small stereo power amp. They will have female jacks, plug in the 'Y's, and connect your speakers to the amp. Or, you can cut off the RCA jacks, strip the wires, attach directly to the speaker leads if they are powered.
All of the above parts can be found at your local radio shack. Banana plugs ARE an option, but wiring them properly can be a hassle. Limit amplification to 100 watts peak.
Even if you find the hardware to make the connection - and Radio Shack has everything you need, you still won't hear anything because your the Polk speakers are NOT amplified. If your speakers do not have a jack to accept small audio products like iPods, MP3 players and laptops, then you will also need to ask Radio Shack for a speaker amplifier.
