How do I remove interference in my speakers?
Question: I have a cheap home theater setup, with audio going from my cable box to my TV to my audio receiver. I have to have the audio going through the TV because I have no remote for the audio receiver Anyway, I have a lot of higher-pitched white noise (not the 60 hz tone) coming through the speakers. I have partially eliminated it by dropping down the treble on the audio receiver and putting noise reduction on the TV on high, but it is still noticeably there. What can I do to get rid of it? Thanks!
Answers: You cables are unshielded, and possibly too long also. If you have unshielded wires, they are easy to replace. Don't buy your wires commercially though (future shop, best buy etc) you will pay through the nose. Shop online and grab it there. An example of pricing diffrence: Future shop: $200.00, B&E $7.00, same cable, same length.
Remember, you will recieve some degree of noise if you cable is to long, and even more if you cable is intertwinded with another cable carrying signal of simular frequency.
try to move it further away from other electronic equipment
Sounds like all you need to do is balance your audio levels. Before we can do this, make sure you verify the following settings on your equipment:
1-Using your Cable Box remote, enter the audio settings menu and make the following changes if necessary.
Set Output level to fixed.
Set bandwidth to normal .
2-On your audio receiver, tune in a clear FM station and adjust all audio settings to your liking and set the volume to your liking also.
Set the receivers source control to the TV sound input.
Turn off the audio receiver.
3-Turn your TV on and using it's remote (not the cable remote) adjust the volume to your liking.
4- Turn on the audio receiver and using the TV remote set the volume to your liking. Use the TV and receivers audio controls so that neither the TV's or your receivers speakers over power each other.Your high pitched noise should now be gone.Let us know!
