How do I hook up a KLH surround sound system directly to my TV?
Question: I have a 4 year old KLH surround sound system. I want to hook this directly to my TV, my TV has component A/V out which plug directly into my Sub-woofer. But out from the sub should come the speakers right?... not sure if the 24 guage speaker wire is right or not, but I think I should be getting sound out of them. I get sound out of my Sub, but not out of the speakers.... any ideas?
Answers: It sounds like you have a powered subwoofer which only needs a signal (such as the one from your tv) and the amp inside the sub takes care of the rest. Your speakers need an amplifier (like a stereo receiver) to power them. I've never heard of a subwoofer having speaker wire connections to also power front speakers. I believe you need a stereo receiver, then you can connect your tv to the receiver and plug your subwoofer and speaker wires into the audio outs on the receiver. A newer receiver would have a specific sub out connection.
