Help! My DVD player is skipping......?

Question: & has been acting up for quite a while. It has 6 speakers that came with it. Can I buy a new player and hook the existing speakers up to it instead of buying a whole new system?
Answers: First, get a good cleaner, they are inexpensive sold at Walmart and such like places.
It depends, if they mixed the receiver and DVD player then your going to have to connect the new DVD player through the old one some how. But your speaker should work with and receiver given that they use the standard speaker wire.
As long as the DVD player is a separate unit, you should be able to replace it with another. Make sure it has the same outputs as the defective unit. (audio/video connections). Unfortunately, if you get 1-2 years out of a DVD player with regular use, your doing ok. Sounds like the laser optical unit is worn out. Very common with the lower end DVD theater systems. Don't waste your money on a repair shop. Cheaper and more reliable to replace it.
