Who makes the best flat screen television?
Question: I'm looking for a LCD DVD combo with superior picture. Do I have to buy name brand?
Answers: I wouldn't recommend going with the combination because of the probable chance that the if either the TV or the DVD player has a problem, you would have to take in the entire system for repairs. If you go with seperates, I would recommend looking at Sony. They don't meausure on the test bench as the best (Mitsubishi rates high in that regard), but with the naked eye, Sony (on all of their TVs actually) just has a sense of reality that the others don't have. Less features and more money, but the picture quality is the best I've seen no matter what type of television format (CRT, LCD, plasma, rear-projection, etc.).
If you have considered all of the +'s and -'s of owning a combined video system and still want to persue a combination unit, I would recommend the following...
The best way to select the best one for you is to go down to your local Circuit City or Best Buy or similar store and compare picture quality, features, warranty, etc. and see which one you like the best.
If you cannot buy from a local store and can only buy sight unseen, I would then recommend going with a name brand like Toshiba or Sharp (or one that you are familiar with) just because the cheaper brands may not offer the picture quality or warranty that would be in your best interest respectively.
Reading reviews are also helpful to save time to find out what specific features and comments on picture quality.
Bottom line, I say this: find the picture you like best with the design that is most appealing, and if the warranty is acceptable, and the price is right, that would be the best one for you.
sony
Consumer reports says it's the Sony Grand Wega....
i'd say yes, but then again i wouldn't buy a tv dvd combo since they tend to be less durable.
