How can I easily Copy a VHS to a DVD?
Question: I'm trying to convert my VHS Collection to dvd but I'm not sure how to.
Is there an easy way that dosn't a fortune?
Answers: You need a video capture card. You can get them for around $150. Amazon.com is a good place. With that card you can hook you vcr up to your computer and record the movies.
Easiest - record back your VHS into your cam corder. Download it to your PC and burn onto DVD....no extra equipment (assuming you have a camcoder)
Depends what you consider a fortune. The easiest way is to get a combination DVD/VHS deck. There are several available for under $200. I think some of them might even have a 1-button dubbing feature, but even without that it shouldn't be hard to copy from your tape to a DVD.
An alternative is to just buy a DVD recorder and hook up the output from your VCR to the input of the DVD. Slightly more complex, but cheaper, and the DVD-only unit will probably be of higher quality than a combo unit and you don't have to worry about whether the VCR part of the combo unit will track your old tapes properly.
If you have a DVD recorder and a VCR, on the back of the DVD recorder there should be Video and Audio (Red and Yellow or white) in. Match the colors. On the back of the VCR there should be Video and Audio out. (Red or White is Audio, Yellow is Video. After you hook up the wires, you put in the VHS. (You also need to buy blank DVDs.) Then you put the blank DVD in the DVD recorder. Lastly, press record on the DVD recorder, then press play on the VCR. (Make sure you rewind the VHS first.)
