What type of amp do i need??

Question: i am running 2 rf-7 towers for my home on a denon avr3805.
how can i get rid of some distortion, understand i listen to my music jet loud!!!
i am thhinking maybe by adding an amp that will solve the problem, any advice, thnx!!!
what amp model is recommended??
any info will be greatly appreciated, thnx!!!!!
Answers: The Denon AVR 3805 is rated 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 160 watts per channel into 6 ohms. Your Klipsch 2 rf-7’s have an amazing Sensitivity of 102 db with an Impedance of 8 ohms.

A 10 watt amplifier would make those speakers scream.

It’s doubtful you would get a cleaner “Jet Loud” with a more powerful amplifier. If you choose to try an amplifier upgrade - look for an amplifier that “Doubles Down” into 4 ohms.

An amplifier with a good power supply will be rated at 100 watts into 8 ohms and 200 watts into 4 ohms. The doubling is more important than the rated watts into 8 ohms. If your Denon was rated 120 watts into 8 ohms and 240 into 4 ohms it would have cost considerably more. (It’s not even rated into 4 ohms.)

The overriding factor here is your speaker’s 102 db sensitivity. They provide almost no load on an amplifier.

My guess – you need larger speakers or an additional powered subwoofer.

There are many amplifiers that “Double Down”. Just one example is Bob Carvers’ Sunfire amplifiers– they even “double down” again into 2 ohms - which is definitely not needed for an 8 ohm speaker with 102 db sensitivity!
Okay, I'm guessing that you are talking about the Klipsch RF-7
floor speakers. You definitely have the right speakers for ultra
loud performance SPLs! You would have to go with a pair of
Klipschorns (at 104 dB @ 1w/2.83v) to surpass these.

Well, to reach the maximum SPL of your RF-7s you will need an
amplifier that will produce an honest 250 wpc into 8 Ohms for an
extra 3dB of SPL from your ultra high-sensitivity speakers...

102 dB = 1 watt
105 dB = 2 watts
108 dB = 4 watts
111 dB = 8 watts
114 dB = 16 watts
117 dB = 32 watts
120 dB = 64 watts
123 dB = 128 watts
126 dB = 256 watts
129 dB = 512 watts
132 dB = 1,024 watts

The least expensive good amp that can give you all the power
your speakers can handle and will get them to the maximum
SPL with low distortion would be the Behringer EP1500 amp.
This is a pro amp and you will need to use balanced XLR con-
nectors between your receiver and this amp.

There are other good amplifiers that will meet your performance
criteria, but the prices will be more -in some cases much more!

Also, you can add a couple of good 15 powered subwoofers to
add tremendous impact to your RF-7. With two of these, you'll
be able to play the 1812 Overture in all it's cannon blasting glory!
Or, the Hsu VTF-3 III w/Turbocharger will do the trick as well...
