How do you make a composite video cable yourself? which materials do i need?
Answers: Its the same as a shielded audio cable with RCA jacks on both ends. You can get them at radio shack in any length you want.
A Composite cable is the same as a RCA cable except that it has 5 cables. 3 for video, 2 for audio. You can use an RCA cable as a composite cable but it the cable gets too long, you may have some distortion. The technical difference is that a Composite Cable has a better shielding to RFs(Radio Frequencies) and Magnetic disruption. Other than that, I'm not sure how to Make one.
Composite Video is the combining of all black and white and color Video information in one shielded video cable. There are a wide variety of connectors used and normally will be a professional BNC type or consumer RCA type termination. The cable must always be shielded.
GO TO RADIO SHACK THEY HAVE EVERYTHING U NEED
A true composite video cable is simply a 75ohm Coax cable. So purchase some RG6 coax cable and place a compression RCA tip on either end and you're done. This also goes for Sub cables, component video, and Digital Coax. They are all 75ohm Coax.
This is normally the yellow connector on consumer products, but find out which connectors you need and how long you need the cable. Then buy some cable and some connectors. Attach the connectors to each end of the cable. If it's got to go thru a wall, don't put the connectors on until the cable is in place. Then you'll have a composite video cable.
see JP's answer... and, you can go to Radio Shack and purchase the bulk cable and connectors.... I would go with crimp on connectors if you're a novice at building your own wire, though.
It is cheaper to just buy one.
You will need a RG6 Cable, Connectors and a cable stripper. Some connectors also need tools to connect. The simpliest way is to connect regular cable jacks (the screw in type with the wire coming out) and attach screw on RCA connectors on top. All this can be found a radioshack.
