I have a DVD Player that has a limited options,and i have a sony receiver.which of them should to be follow?


Question: im asking here if i played a DVD movie with a dolby digital surround effect, but my DVD player has no options for dolby digital sound, and my receiver was a sony that a dolby digital effect and a (ES)THX certification.my problem was, is all the options of my receivers does not work,because of my DVD player does not feed my receiiver a dolby digital effect? please help me.suggest me more about this.thanks.

Answers: if you give the make/model of your dvd player this might help better answer your question.
Using the audio right/left (white/red) jacks on the back will not give digital surround.
there could be an 'orange' colored jack on the dvd player - this would be digital coax output that woudl plug to your receiver.

again make/model of your dvd and receiver would help
Does your receiver have a digital audio input? If so, what type
Digital Coax or Optical.

For less than $75 you can buy a new DVD player with a digital audio output that you would connect to the receiver.
