Does it matter what side of the TV my subwoofer is on?
Answers: As you can see, which side of the TV the sub is placed isn't important. However placement is important to sound depending on the acoustics of the room. There are many tools you can use to find the right spot but if you don't want to spend any money try placing your sub near your seated position, turn the sub about 1/3 to 1/2 max volume, put on some music that has moderate bass (maybe jazz) and play the music at your normal listening level. Walk around the room until you find a spot that the bass sounds best. If the spot is convenient for sub placement put it there and try again listening from your seated position. If the sub is in a corner it probably sounds louder but check that it's not to boomy . It should sound great. Enjoy.
No it doesn't the human ear cant detect where such low frequencies are coming from, but a sub woofer gains over 50% more efficiency when it is placed in a corner but is a short answer No what ever looks best
Well, that depends...
If you have your powered subwoofer
set at or below 50Hz it won't matter too
much, but if you have the crossover set
higher, then the subwoofer becomes di-
rectional and should be place closer to the
center in between the front two speakers.
Experiment with subwoofer placement to
find the best sound for your room in your
listening position.

do not place your sub too close to the tv unless you know that it is magnetically shielded. the placement of the sub should not be too crucial unless you are going for pefect sound. corner placement is ideal if you want more bang for your buck, place it about 6 inches away from the wall. if you wan to get optimal placement for your subwoofer, a good trick is to place the sub where you will be sitting mostly (the sweetspot) and then crawl around the ground while you have a song with lots of constant bass. once you find the spot that sounds loudest then place the subwoofer there and you can now enjoy your subwoofer to its fullest extent. set the crossover frequency to what sounds best, it might vary depending on the song but usually around 50-80 (60 is most common) is what is done.
A subwoofer is mono which means technically it doesn't matter where its placed. However most home theatres put it front right or front left of the TV. Also now a days most TV's are either shielded or do not even use magnets anymore, so don't worry about too close to the TV.
No it doesn't. The official answer we are given by our suppliers and manafactures is 3m either side from the central seating position. Realistically, it is more like 5 metres but really depends on the acoustic properties of the room.
When all else fails, go with what looks and sounds good for you.
Absolutely not. In fact it can be installed anywhere you want in the listening area.Simply adjust the loudness to the level that pleases you!
i could give you a long and borring explanation but this way is easier. Go get a THX optimizer. It will guide you through tweeking and explain placement of speakers and sub. You dont HAVE TO put it next to your tv its just the most common
