Surround Sound for TV not working?
Question: 1.) Hi, I have a Sony LCD TV hooked up to a HD Cable Box and a Panasonic Home Theater with Built in DVD. My problem is that when watching TV or HDTV (ESPN HD for example) the surround speakers does not work. I just bought a RCA cable (red and white) and I connected it to the back of the Sony LCD TV that says Audio Out to the Home theater system. What should I do? It works for DVD and Music CDs. My friend told me to enable the Audio out for the TV but I don't know how.
2.)Also I have an HDMI cable. Is it only for the DVD? because the quick set up guide for the LCD TV says that it can also be used for HD Cable/Satellite box but my HD Cable box does not have a HDMI jack.
Thanks in advance.

what type of cables do you have you cable/satellite hooked up with? make sure you audio cables to the t.v. is plugged into the same connection as you video feed, (video 1, video 2, aux, s-video, or hdmi) then the other into the surround sound. as for the hdmi on cable/satellite box, you would have to upgrade you box/receiver to one with a hdmi jack in the back
For audio to get to your Panasonic Home Theater it has to be fed from somewhere. Either from you cable box or your TV set. Look at your cable box and see if it has audio outputs. It might even have digital coaxial or optical outputs which would mean you could have surround sound from your cable box too!
As for HDMI, call your cable company and see if they have a newer box that has an HDMI connector on it.
