Hd-dvd player?

Answers: The easy answer is Blu-Ray. Technologically, it is a better format and the capacity for upgrade later is almost limitless. Right now, the HD-DVD players do not have the highest video output on the market (1080P) and will not do so until next gen (if it even makes it). Blu-Ray, off the blocks will. The other thing to keep in mind is that only Toshiba is make an hd dvd player and only a handful of movies studios are making movies for Hd-DVD. In the Blu-Ray camp is every major electronic company except for Toshiba, as well as all but one major movie studio is backing Blu ray. It may be a little more to begin with but just think if you buy a player that will have no movies in a year, how much are you out?

go for hd but blue ray when it takes off will be the best and it will have the hd outputs
Both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray have high definition outputs. How else would you get HD with out it? The decision of which is better is complex. Blu-Ray does seem to have a technological advantage. Mostly in the storage capacity and supposedly copy protection schemes. However only time will tell. Blu-Ray comes out in a few weeks so we will have to wait and see.
blu-ray is not out yet so you can't compare both (i think what's going to be the key factor is the price of these players hd-dvd 499-799 blu-ray 1000 & up most people these days want prices to be as cheap as possible so we will see.
