I am looking for a good stereo receiver allpurpose?
Question: I cant decide to buy local not a whole lot of choices ,but the warranty and service god forbid cant be overlooked.I need a good amount of power for a 5 unit surrond ,and two more remote speakers located on my deck which also takes a lot of juice.
Answers: You can acheive what you want from an all-in-one system nowadays unless you are looking for Audiophile quality while you are sipping brewskies on the deck. Look to something like the Integra DTR5.6 if you are on a budget, or if you don't mind to spend some money, then go to Rotel RSX-1067. Rotel's is a high current 100 watt's per channel times seven channels, 5 for your home theatre, and two for your multi room. Both of these solutions will give you plenty of volume and if you buy something like Speakercraft speakers for the backyard, they are highly efficient and have lots of Bass, so will definitely sound good. There are also ways of beefing that up if you still need more juice by way of adding a dedicated power amp to the second zone output of the HT receiver. For example, Rotel or Speakercraft make 6 channel amplifiers that can augment it if you want to have several pairs of speakers outside. You don't really need to go the separate system these days as quality truely is there for two zones from one receiver.
How about an Onkyo from Crutchfield...
I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but you're better off going with TWO different receivers. What you are asking for is too much of a compromise.
I've found that most surround sound systems (5.1, 6.1, 7.1) can't really turn into a nice 2 channel system. They are built for surround sound to be used with a subwoofer.
If you want to have sound for your deck also, I suggest buying a whole nother stereo receiver that can sufficiently send a full range signal to your deck speakers. You will find that the sound quality will be much better than trying to use a surround sound system to power some full range speakers.
