Which will be the winner between Blue-ray & HD-DVD in the disc format race !?
Answers: fag
If Sony releases a blu-ray player in the Ps3 - that will be a major deciding factor. The blu-ray is the better disc, but the hd-dvd has a lot of pull due to it's similar manufacturing. I prefer the blu-ray because of the maasive capacity.
I believe High Defintion DVD's will be the result of Blue ray.
Both can win since they are coming out on seperate game platforms. It worked for Atari and Coleco with the cartridge system in the '80s.
Right now, it looks to me like Blue-Ray is in the lead, because of the companies signed on, but in my estimation consumers will lose with competing formats like this. Too much pressure from Hollywood for copyright protection is creating dumb but complex solutions that will only frustrate consumers and result in a backlash against the industry. See new issue of Sound & Vision for aig article on this.
Neither, LG has already anounced a dual format HD-DVD/Blu-Ray standalone player. It will be no diffrent then the way media for multiple gaming consoles work.
