What is the cheapest way of getting an additional land line number in the UK?

I don't no a cheap land line, but if U use Packet8 U can send you family the BPA ( get free at Tiger Direct) send it to England...then the calls from the US to England is a local number( free) U also get the free Softfone with web cam...so U can see your friends while U talk...

If its just a number you need, try the 0845 numbers, many are free, and they can be redirected to your main number
