Will laser turntables be mass produced in the future?

Laser turntables seem like it is playing to audiophiles and purists that have lots of vinyl in their collections. Maybe also to archives that only have only 78's, 33 1/3's, or 45's because the masters are long lost.
The price may come down from $15,000 but I'm not sure you'll ever see prices come way down into the sub $1000 range given the shift to all electronic music distribution that is occuring.
