Tivo or Direct TV's version?
Question: My daughter wants tivo and my husband thinks the direct tv version will do? She says it won't do some of the things tivo does -- who is right?
Answers: Here's a similar question on the Tivo site (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/sho...
They are very similar. I have used both and believe the Tivo is just easier to use. If your daughter will be the main user, go with Tivo. Tivo offers some special features and can block out shows that you might not want your daughter to see.
One major drawback, although this probably won't impact your daughter specifically, is that a basic Tivo doesn't record in Hi-def. That being said, recording Hi-def on direct tv requires a service upgrade and uses significant harddrive space.
Good luck. The technology is fantastic either way and you can go wrong.
they are basicly the same thing, tivo is just a brand name
Tivo is basically the dooney and bourke of tv recording devices they are basically the same things i think they are around the same price 2 so hey give her what she wants :)
I have directv hd dvr with tivo logo on it. i assume cable companies have their own dvr s with tivo sign on it 2. nice thing about directtv is that u can record 2 channels at the same time. everybody will be happy.
Both are same. To get maximum for your money see this http://my-TV-my-price.notlong.com Here you can design your own package.
This is a heated question among the TIVO faithful. I own 2 DirectTV DVRs that are based on the TIVO software before TIVO and DirecTV severed their partnership. I have used the DirecTV version and sent it back. If you've never used a DVR, then you would be happy with the version from DirecTV, but if you want to do any additional things such as schedule recordings through the web or save your recorded shows to a PC, then TIVO standalone is the way to go.
