Question: I am sure that I have everything connected to the right places. It's a Magnavox 37 , if that makes any difference. What can be causing this? What can I do about it.

(Please do not post nasty read your manual answers. I did that already, and even in the troubleshooting section, there is nothing about this problem.)

Answers: I've had a lot of customers with Hissing sound and not just Magnavox TVs........

The main cause I have seen is a cable box with a volume control on it.....and the Cable's box's volume is turned Wayyyyyy down.....and the TV is turned Waaaaayyyyyyy UP....

This make the TV hiss because your sound level is pretty close to the natural level of noise....You gotta jack up the cable box volume to MAX.
