Why did my tv/dvd player stop playing dvds all of a sudden?

Question: the tv still works but the dvd player doesn't reconise dvds any more. Please help!!
Answers: probally the laser has broken
The disc is probably broke or you need to take your dvd in
it is probably old b****. what the h*** did u think happen.
maybe try a lens cleaner disk. it is a fake dvd with a little brush on it. It may clean the laser lens. MIKE
Most likely the disc mechanism failed. Hopefully it's still under warranty, although if you're asking here it's probably not. Repair probably run about $150, new separate DVD player cost maybe $40, your choice.
Your DVD player may just need to be cleaned. I take the top off of mine and clean the eye with alcohol every month. I've never had a problem with it.
